When I started my entrepreneurial journey at the age of 14, that was 23 years ago. Running a business meant having a product or service that people want and going the traditional route of acquiring clients.
Even about 10 years ago, it was the same traditional way of acquiring clients. Over this 10 year period, with technology and social media, it has all changed and me being not the most tech savvy, I struggled with it and even now I have a mentor that I learn from about social media and marketing.
However the attitude for running a business is still the same, persistence and strong will is what’s required (my will became stronger watching Stallone in Rocky movies ?) just kidding but through sheer struggles and hard work, my will is becoming stronger and stronger everyday.
Because of the changes in the way we market our products services systems, we all have to understand branding and how our prospects perceive us and how they look at our brand.
So because of how 65% people check reviews before making a buying decision, having online presence and having a brand story is essential to the survival of your business (in most cases).
Over a period of time I have also learnt that not just understanding how to brand your product but how to create tangible and intangible assets for your business which will lead to a good valuation of your business, if you are looking to raise investment or sell your business. (Coming from experience after selling 2 businesses).
Just sharing some struggles and lessons learnt.
